SMS is in need of a Cybersecurity Operations Controller for our AFCENT NOSC contract at Shaw Air Force Base in Sumter, SC.
AFCENT’s mission is to deliver combat-ready air, space, communications, and cyberspace capability for USCENTCOM, helping maintain security and stability throughout Southwest Asia. We support the AFCENT Commander, USCENTCOM, coalition and joint partners, and warfighters who rely on NIPRNet, SIPRNet, partner networks, and other command-and-control systems. The AFCENT NOSC program is focused on running and protecting a 24/7 enterprise network and systems operations, including cybersecurity, engineering, maintenance, and technical support, keeping the AFCENT’s theater communications and IT infrastructure ready, secure, and available to effectively execute the AFCENT mission.

Job Responsibilities
Conduct network security monitoring and incident triage using the AFCENT/USCENTCOM selected security tools to include but is not limited to IDS/IPS, firewall, proxy, router, Microsoft Windows, Fidelis, and HBSS logs.
Enter event data into mission support systems according to operational procedures and reports to meet mission/tasking.
Produce security reports.
Perform trend analysis of authorized and unauthorized activity.
Correlate unusual and suspicious network activity and validate unusual network activity unique to a geographical region and sensor location.
Assist in completion of network defense/cybersecurity statistical and trend data and operational event reporting when requested.
Assist in the development of countermeasures to isolate, contain and prevent intrusive activities.
Track, document, and report all security related events, and Cross Domain Violations.
Coordinate and track Information Assurance Vulnerabilities Alerts (IAVA).
Review and report compliance and develop POA&M.
Provide General IT Management support.
Provide General Networking support.
Provide LAN support.
Provide WAN Enterprise support.
Provide technical general O&M support as required.
Provide documentation/reports support as required.
Provide meetings/briefings support as required.
Provide functional training support as required.
Provide CONUS TDY support as required.
Required Qualifications
Associates in related field and 3 or more years’ relevant experience; Or, 5 or more years’ relevant experience.
Firewall, ACAS and HBSS experience
Ability to define baseline security requirements in accordance with applicable guidelines.
Must possess experience and demonstrate an understanding of Microsoft server installation, roles, active directory, storage, performance management, and maintenance.
Certifications Required
CompTIA Network +CE or Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA)
ITIL Foundation - Candidate has up to 60 days to acquire ITIL Foundation certification after start.
